Creating extra storage can be easy with a couple of simple tips and amazing resources, come see behind the doors in my bathroom! I was so excited to have taken over @extraspace Storage’s Instagram stories on August 23, they’ve been an amazing resource to me as I have been revamping my main floor bathroom. I live in a very old home, as most of you know, and therefore, space is always at a premium. When I decided to redo my bathroom, I really wanted to focus on creating a space that felt open and gave a spa-like feel, but was also a practical space for getting ready each day, and let’s not forget affordable!
The first thing I did in the redo was lighten and brighten up my space using paint — and a whole lot of elbow grease!
Here is the before:
Here is the after:
I even hung this vintage fixture on my own and love the feel it gives to the space.
Next, I wanted to create the same put-together feeling behind my cupboard doors. I had so many items stored improperly and inconveniently. Finally getting down to organizing it all was a tough job, but felt great once completed!
To start, everything was taken out of the linen closet and from under the bathroom vanity. Starting with a clean slate makes it so much easier to organize a space.
I then sorted everything into three piles:
Keep
Donate
Garbage
To help organize the inside of my storage cabinets, I decided I was going to use baskets and pull-out shelves so that I can easily see what is in each cupboard, and also have the ability to take them out entirely for easy accessibility.
I also incorporated a shower caddy to hold my bath items. This organizes everything easily and keeps it all within reach when showering or bathing.
With a small century farmhouse, it’s important to utilize every nook and cranny, so even the back of the door was used!
I couldn’t be happier with the changes I made and can honestly say being organized in this space has made my day to day routine so much easier.
Now, not only is the bathroom more inviting but behind the cabinet doors is too!
