Let’s talk Nursery Design, and let’s talk BEHR® Chalk Decorative Paint, that is! I was thrilled when my daughter asked me to help her with her nursery. She is expecting a little girl in September and to be a part of this nursery design project means a lot to me.
Choosing The Right Pieces
I knew I wanted to pick up an old dresser and rocker to redo for this space. I mean, every baby needs something in their nursery that is just their’s. I thought some fun pieces that could travel through time with them would work beautifully.
I decided a pretty dresser and mirror combo would be wonderful – something a little pretty with curvy lines. I also wanted a rocking chair for my daughter to use when nursing the baby.
Choosing The Right Product
I knew I wanted to add a little pink (this is our first girl grandchild) but I still wanted to leave some of the wood natural. Behr has this great Chalk Decorative Paint that I was eager to try. I decided for the dresser that I would use a brush-on paint and a wax. I chose the BEHR® Chalk Decorative Paint in Miniature Rose BCP02 and I have to say I couldn’t be happier with the colour! Prep was simple – clean and lightly sand and then apply. This paint went on smoothly and it only took two coats to get a nice finish. It was so easy to apply and clean-up was a breeze… just some water and a little soap.
Behr has 4 decorative waxes to choose from:
I went with the White Wax on the maple wood dresser to create an aged wood look. You just apply it with a cloth and wipe. It’s as easy as that!
I love how this White Wax gave the piece the look of aged the wood and brought out the details of the grain.
I also decided to add some cute stencils to the sides of the drawers. Nothing like a sweet surprise every time you open them up. I used the BEHR® Chalk Decorative Paint in Miniature Rose BCP02 for this.
For the Rocking Chair, I really didn’t want to have to hand paint all those spindles. Anyone who has painted chairs using a brush can attest to the not-so-fun aspect of it! But Behr came to the rescue with their Chalk Decorative Aerosol paint – a serious game changer guys! The Mr. said it was the best spray paint he has used. It went on smooth and clean and the finish is gorgeous. I’ll be using this again. I went with Gingham BPC35 and one can painted the entire chair.
Pulling The Nursery Design Together
Pulling this space together was so much fun. We rolled in a fun carpet and hung some long, flowing curtains. Once we added some pretty pink bedding, we had the perfect base for this space.
Now on to the fun decor. Stay tuned for an update as we progress with this space.

Love to watch your great decorating!
Thank you!!
Do you always have to sand it down? I’m thinking of redoing my dinning room table which is wood. To country white
You would just need to lightly sand. I just took a couple of seconds to go over each piece quickly. The finish is wonderful!
